Ms. Melissa Joyce

Program Director

My name is Melissa Joyce. I have been in the child care field for 13 years starting off as a caregiver and working my way up to Lead Teacher, Assistant Director and then Director. I earned my Associates Degree in Early Childhood Development through Oakland Community College and have also taken classes through Eastern Michigan University and Rasmussen College. I reside in the city of Howell with my boyfriend Tim and his 2 children, Kaelin and Owen. Together we have 3 dogs Rogue, Gambit and Jackson and we also have chickens. I have 2 younger sisters and 3 stepsisters. I have 1 niece named Hailey and I am expecting my first nephew this June! I have a big family with my mother living in Florida, I am fortunate to have my dad and stepmom nearby in Michigan. When I am not working I enjoy reading, kayaking, fishing, camping and I just recently picked up photography. If the weather is nice outside you can find me doing some sort of activity outside. I love to travel and will go anywhere I can. I fell in love with children when I was 14 and started babysitting and when I obtained my first child care job at the age of 17 I knew this is what I wanted to do with my life. Working with children is my passion and knowing I am making a difference in their lives at a young age is very rewarding to me. Plus, you can never have a bad day when a little kid comes in giving you a huge hug! I look forward to meeting you and getting to know your family.

Ms. Megan R.

Assistant Program Director

My Name is Megan Rupert. I have been in the child care field for 5 years.  I went to college straight out of High School being unsure about what I wanted to do as a career. I went through several careers before I fell in love with Teaching. I started off getting a degree in Elementary Education at Washtenaw Community College while working for a Montessori Preschool and Day Care.  While working as an Assistant I obtained my Montessori certification which led me to becoming a Lead Montessori Preschool Teacher. I chose to change career paths from Elementary to Early Childhood Development. I fell in love with the children and the environment of the Daycare/ Preschool center. I knew that this was my passion. I pursued an Associated Degree in Child Care Professionals at Washtenaw Community College. I have been at Gilden Woods as a Lead Preschool Teacher for a year and became the Curriculum Coordinator as well.  I have been given the opportunity to be the centers Assistant Director. I am continuing my education with a BA in Early Childhood, once upon completion my future goal is to complete a Master’s Degree. live in Howell with my two children, Lyndsey (5) and Hudson (1). I absolutely love being a Mother, it is the greatest gift I have received.  I love spending all my free time with my children, family and friends. When I am not working I enjoy, being outside and going to the beach, camping and visiting new cities and towns, shopping for antiques! I am looking forward to getting to know all the families.
