Ms. Sarah S.

Program Director

Hello! My name is Sarah Schumacher and I am the Program Director at the East Lansing AppleTree Early Care and Preschool. I grew up and reside in Laingsburg with husband, Kyle. Our daughter was born in October of 2014; she has brought such a joy to our lives.

I hold an Associate’s of Arts in Child Development and Early Education from Lansing Community College and I have earned my Bachelor of Science in Family Studies with a minor in Addiction Studies from Western Michigan University. I joined the AppleTree family in September of 2009 – I have worked in Lyric and Adabelle Rooms as well as previously focusing on curriculum for all age groups. Providing quality childcare and early education through developmentally appropriate curriculum and highly qualified staff in a safe, loving, and nurturing environment is my priority and goal as your program director. I look forward to working with and getting to know each AppleTree family! If you have any questions for me, please feel free to contact me at any time.

Ms. Amanda S.

Assistant Program Director

My name is Amanda Schneider and I’m the Assistant Director here at East Lansing Appletree Early Care and Preschool. I went to school at Ashworth College and obtained my Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education. Prior to working at Appletree, I spent some time gaining experience working in another center as both a Preschool Teacher and a Director.

I have been with Appletree since November 2011 with a short leave of absence in 2013/2014 to have my daughter. I have worked as a lead in both Infant and Faris classrooms before moving to this Administrative position.

I was born and raised in the small town of Pewamo, about 45 min NW of East Lansing. I currently reside in Matherton, MI with my daughter Olivia, step-son Brandt, and my fiance Scott. I have a younger brother who is married and the father of my 2 sweet nephews. My family has always been a priority of mine and I feel so blessed having my family close by to spend lots of time with whenever I am not working.

I look forward to working with everyone to provide a loving, nurturing environment that fosters early learning experiences for your children. Quality care, highly qualified staff, and developmentally appropriate curriculum are just a few of my priorities as your Assistant Director.

Ms. Rosanna V.

Curriculum Coordinator

My name is Rosanna Vaquera and I’m the Curriculum Coordinator here at East Lansing Appletree. I have been a part of the Appletree family since February 2014. I was raised in Texas and moved to East Lansing to attend Michigan State University, after graduating from MSU I settled here in East Lansing. I have two great daughters who love the different seasons that Michigan has to offer! In my free time, we enjoy spending time outdoors or snuggling on the couch to watch movies together.

I graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelors in Art and English. When I started in Appletree I came in as an assistant and I’ve loved teaching so much that I moved up to a Lead Teacher. During my time at Appletree I have had the opportunity to teach in both toddler and preschool classrooms. I am excited to continue to grow and learn more as I become a Curriculum Coordinator.

I look forward to working with every family, creating meaningful relationships and fostering a high-quality, educational environment at our center. I love having the ability to work with both the staff and families in our facility!

"Our daughter has attended Gilden Woods since it opened last November and we have had the most wonderful experience there. As a preschool teacher with my Master's in Early Childhood Education, I have extremely high expectations - and I can honestly tell you they have all been far surpassed. Words cannot express how thankful I am to know that my daughter is being loved and cared for so genuinely while I am away at work."
