![]() Wobblers & ToddlersPlenty of Hugs, Holding, and HelpPlaying. Singing. Dancing. The sights and sounds of pure joy fill the Wobbler and Toddler Rooms. CaregiversAt Appletree, your child will have caregivers, including a primary caregiver, who understand the transition between infancy and toddlerhood. With great affection and consistency, they help your child practice making choices, set reasonable expectations, make suggestions rather than commands, and suggest alternative activities when trouble is brewing. Creating a warm and enjoyable environment is key to making your child want to learn. Your child's caregivers will regularly encourage independence while letting your child know there is someone they can depend on within reach. They'll help her or him master the soft climbers and steps in the room to help develop balance and other motor skills. They'll help explore creativity with paints, crayons, and clay dough. They'll make time for playing house and dress-up to expand the imagination. And they'll make use of the quiet corners – filled with pillows and picture books – to help your child reach a sense of calm. Introducing StructureThe Wobbler/Toddler Room purposely has separate play and learning areas. This separation fosters your child's awareness that different behavior is appropriate in different settings. In this caring and inviting atmosphere, they'll learn how to talk and listen by taking turns. Exploring with the SensesThrough the five senses, wobblers and toddlers discover our complex world. Appletree encourages sensorial learning by providing a stimulating environment and giving your child time and opportunity to explore. Their days are filled with books, music, and more, so they can begin to understand the world around them. On sunny days, the favorite activity is playing on the playground with friends. Toddlers Are SpongesEspecially with children at this age, our caregivers realize the importance of the behaviors they are modeling. We stress "please" and "thank you", taking turns, following instructions, and considering others. While your child is learning about himself and busy looking out for himself, he is also developing positive self-esteem which is essential to social development. Quality TimeWhile our caregivers take care of more than one child, they make time for individual attention. They listen and offer feedback to your child so he or she knows they've been heard. Positive AttitudeOur caregivers understand the importance of maintaining consistency with rules, providing choices and rewards, and using time-outs only when necessary and without shame. |
